Fathers Incorporated is excited to tell you about an exciting upcoming project we’re working on with Paramount Pictures, Denzel Washington, Values Partnerships and the Campaign for Black Male Achievement.

August Wilson’s FENCES comes to movie theaters on Christmas Day, 2016, starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. This is a historic moment – the first major August production in theaters – and FENCES is already being called a leading contender for an Academy Award. You can check out the sneak-peak trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2m6Jvp0bUw

So much of the FENCES story is about a father, a mother and a son – all the things they say to each other – and the things left unsaid. To promote the theme of family healing, we are launching a program called #ACROSSTHEFENCE.

On Wednesday, November 30th, people will go on social media and share healing messages to loved ones, photo dedications, music and art dedications, and even video interviews to loved ones. The idea is to encourage people to build bonds with family and loved ones in new ways, sharing healing messages that previously were left unsaid. See examples at acrossthefence.co/see.

Will you join us on Wednesday, November 30th and participate in #AcrossTheFence?

For example, you can:

  • Share a photo on Instagram or Facebook of your grandparent or grandchild, add a dedication to them, and the hashtag, #AcrossTheFence.
  • Interview a loved one over the holidays, record the interview, and share portions online November 30th, #AcrossTheFence. Download an interview guide here.
  • Write a song or poem, or produce a work of art, and share it with a loved on online on the 30th, #AcrossTheFence.

Some of the submissions will receive special acknowledgement, and three submissions will receive an all-expense-paid trip to meet Denzel and Viola at an upcoming premier of FENCES.

Click here to commit to participating in #AcrossTheFence. Please join us online on November 30th – and let’s build bonds.

All the best,
